Do you wish your makeup looked like your own skin?
As a Bridal makeup artist this is what I specialize in. Skin should look and feel like your skin, not look like it’s been caked on and “baked”.
So, how does one achieve that buttery soft look with makeup?
Skin Care!
Great makeup starts with bomb skin care! It doesn’t matter what foundation you use, if your skin isn’t well prepped you won’t get the results you want.
Imagine painting your room without prepping the walls first! You could just put the paint on but it would look like terrible, as oppose to actually cleaning the walls first, caulking the imperfections and sanding it down, etc.
Same goes with makeup. And while everyone has different skin needs and textures, it still boils down to having proper skin care and maintenance before applying your makeup.
I love to do an almost mini facial prior to makeup application so the makeup just melts into the skin and ultimately helps pro long the wear of it.
So how can we do this on our own?
If you are set for time then my advice is to keep it simple, and the best way to do is by having a few great products on your bag.
1-oil cleanser
2-exfoliant
3-moisturizer
Even if you have oily skin! An oil cleanser will remove impurities, cleanse and remove makeup without stripping your natural oils and avoid a havoc on your natural skin barrier.
Next exfoliate my friend! You have to get rid of the layer of dead skin cells we accumulate.
If you are new to exfoliating or have sensitive skin, start with doing it once a week, you want to shoot for 2-3 times a week.
Lastly, moisturize! Yes, even if you have oily skin your skin still needs moisture.
Now grab your go to foundation and put it on.
It’s that simple, focus on your skin first, then makeup.
