How do I grow my hair out?

Want to know how to grow out your hair?

Have you struggled with growing out your hair long? Or maybe you have been regularly getting trims and it seems like it just will not go longer than your shoulders?

Frustrating I know!

Let me give you some tips that can help your hair grow long and healthy so you can have nice long healthy hair!

First of all, let’s de bunk the “My hair just will not grow”

Because it does, you see your roots right? Those hilites still need to be re-touched every few weeks, so the problem is not that your hair is not growing, it’s that your ends are breaking off.

There’s several reasons why your ends will break off.

Maybe you have been over processing with chemical services, this includes any hair coloring, more specifically hair lightening, relaxers, perms or smothing blow out treatments.

If you don’t use the necessary home maintenance, or heck! Your stylist over processes your ends, then the result will be on weakened ends that will split and break off.

Another reason is using too high heat on your hair, remember this, the longer your hair is the older your ends are!

So when using heat, your ends have been the most exposed to heat and hair color etc making them more prone to breakage.

What you need to ensure this doesn’t happen is to use the correct heat temperature based on your hair and use a heat protectant.

Not just a thermal protectant for the curling iron or straightening iron, but a protective blow out lotion that protects your hair from the blow dryer heat.

So what temperature should your tools be?

For fine to medium hair you want your irons to be between 300-350 degrees.

Medium to coarse hair you want your irons to be between 350-400 degrees.

Whatever you do, there’s no reason to go above 400.

Blow dryers sadly don’t come with temperature control, which is why I always strongly suggest all my clients to make sure they use a blow out lotion prior to blowdrying your hair.

I have been loving Kevin Murphy’s Smoothing lotion, it smells heavenly, it smooths your hair and fights frizz but most importantly protects your hair.
